After downloading, when installing the Select Components window pops up, click on the Add Plugins command to install additional applications to increase the working power of the tool.
Click Next to continue the installation.
When you get to the Select Additional Tasks window, check the box:
– Enable Explorer context menu integration: Allows integration into the right-click menu of Explorer.
Add WinMerge folder to your system path: To create a separate working directory for WinMerger on your computer.
– Create a desktop icon: Create icons off the desktop.
Click Next to continue.
Click Next… Next and wait for the completion of the installation process.
How to use WinMerge:
Step 1: Open WinMerge, on the main interface of the software click on the File => Open tab or the yellow folder icon on the toolbar.
Step 2: The Select Files or Folders window appears. In the Left (1) and Right (2) sections, click Browse… to open two files to compare. Then click OK (3) to check the difference between the 2 files.
Step 3: Compare the text in this window, the difference between the 2 files marked with yellowed text, look at which you will know in which paragraph those 2 files differ.
Step 1: To compare folders with each other, in the Select Files or Folders window, click Browse… in the Left (1) and Right (2) sections to select the two folders you want to compare. If there are additional subfolders in that folder, check the box for Include Subfolders (3). Then click OK(4) to check the difference between the 2 folders.
Step 2: In this window, you will give the results of comparing the two folders just selected, if in the Comparison result field you see the note Binary files are identical, ie exactly the same, and the note Binary files are different ie there is a difference.

Step 3: For Word or Media files, many times when viewing in the Date field, it is impossible to identify which files have just updated. At this point, you need to see the file size by recognizing on the main interface of the software, clicking on the Tools tab, selecting Customize Columns …
The Display Columns window appears, check the Left Size and Right Size boxes, and then click OK. Now, if you want to know which files are the most up-to-date, in addition to finding files with the * symbol, you can also search by size.
Usually, when displaying results, files in subfolders also appear, making everything very confusing, to make the result look more compact, go to View =>Tree Mode.
